Membership

The Society needs increased membership in order to properly care for our Matthew Curtiss house museum and our Middle Gate One Room School. Many visitors come to the house during open house and other events, and Newtown's school children make annual visitations to the old school house.

From September through May we present free programs on a variety of historical topics. Several times during the year historical demonstrations are given at the Matthew Curtiss house. Membership dues support these dynamic programs and demonstrations.

The membership period runs according to our fiscal year: July 1 to June 30. Members renew their annual membership as early in the fiscal year as possible to maximize each of the benefits that they are eligible to receive. This process also prevents members from receiving multiple renewal solicitations throughout the year. However, members may receive solicitations for special initiatives.

Five times per year members receive our newsletter, The Rooster's Crow, which contains a schedule of upcoming events, historical essays and photos.

Please consider joining our Society. It will be helpful to us and is sure to interest you and put you in a preservation frame of mind. It's a way of providing a community service while making new and lasting friendships. And it's easy. Either:
