The second Newtown Historical Society History Camp was held and enjoyed by all. Twelve seven, eight, nine and ten year olds filled the Matthew Curtiss house with noise and excitement every day from 10:00 to 1:00 during the week of July 16-20, 2007. Because the History Camp has been so successful the last two years, the Society wishes to continue this program. However, three things would make the visit to the Meeting House, formerly the Congregational Church, formerly the Puritan Church more enjoyable. We would like to have a drum and drum sticks because in early days Main Streets congregants would be drummed to church and it would be fun to do that when we visit the Meeting House.
Also, if anyone has any carpentry skills and could make a small stocks and pillory that we could show to our students, that would be terrific. If you could provide the drum or make the stocks or pillory, please call Gordon Williams at 426-6443.
