Newtown is a lovely old town that celebrated
its Tercentennial in 2005. While every effort has been made to keep Newtown a friendly
and up to date community, it is also important to remember, cherish and
preserve its history. Our Newtown Historical Society would like to put you
into this preservation mode. We need increased membership to care for our
Matthew Curtiss house museum and our Middle Gate One Room School. Many visitors come to
our house and Newtown's school children make annual visitations.
From September through May we also present free programs on a variety
of historical topics. Several times during the year historical
demonstrations are given at the Matthew Curtiss house. Membership dues
support these dynamic programs and demonstrations.
Members receive our newsletter,
The Rooster’s Crow, five times
per year containing a schedule of events, photos and historical
essays.
Please consider joining our Newtown Historical Society. It will
be helpful to us and bring pleasure to you.
