By undertaking
and supporting projects such as these, we not only preserve Newtown's past
but also provide for its future in the form of lasting documented
resources. The Society recognizes this need as even more urgent as we
begin the 21st century.Contributions
of documents and artifacts of historical interest are always welcome. We are also interested in
old photographs
as we are in the midst of an
images archival project. If you have something you would like to share,
please contact the historical society.
The Acquisition Committee collects donations
to the Society, vets them for suitability, conserves, and prepares them
for exhibition or archiving. The items are catalogued, inventoried, made
available for use, and the donor is acknowledged with a thank you.
Currently the committee is appraising the
collection, maintaining and conserving it, doing ceramic restoration and
deciding how to exhibit the objects.
